Mamavation Monday – Yoga Benefits both Mom and Family

Ah, it’s my favorite time of the week again. I am always inspired to write for the Mamavation campaign. All other posts, I often dilly-dally or can’t think of what to write. Mamavation always inspires me to get writing. So, this week the focus is about yoga. I remember when my mother did yoga in the 70’s. I thought it was kind of wacky. I could not have been more wrong.

This week’s Blogging Carnival is sponsored by Subway and they want to know Commit 2 Fit Challenge goals. As a personal trainer, even I struggle from time to time. For me, it tends to be diet more so than fitting in exercise. But, I love to learn something new at least each month. My Commit to Fit challenge is to learn new exercise formats to teach my students and clients. So far, I have become certified in PiYo and will also get my TRX certification next month.

Foam Rolling Exercises

It’s well known that stretching exercises are recommended as the most efficient injury prevention tool, no matter what sport you practice. Why? The answer is simple. Most injuries are caused by stressing muscles more than they can take it. If done within 15 minutes after each workout, stretching exercises help release the tension in the muscles and therefore they reduce the probability of injuries.

I love learning about new exercises that require no special equipment and this is the premise of the entire book. Lauren explains that we don’t need fancy equipment and gym memberships. Following his exercises, the claim is that both men and women can get in the best shape of their lives using only their bodies and a few simple household items.
