Sweet Tooth Recipes that Won’t go to your Thighs!
This time of year, it is challenging to stay away from the sweets. So, I am always on the hunt for recipes that actually taste good, but are reasonably healthy, and/or low calorie and low fat. Here are two of my favorites that I have come across lately.
French Christmas Cookies
Only 35 calories each. YUMMY!
Ingredients
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup milk
2-3/4 cups graham cracker crumbs
2 cups milk chocolate chips
2 cups finely chopped walnuts
Topping:
1-1/4 cups milk chocolate chips, melted
Directions:
In a large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in milk. Stir in the crumbs, chips and walnuts. Fill miniature foil baking cups three-fourths full. Place 1 in. apart on baking sheets. Bake at 375° for 10-12 minutes or until set. Cool on wire racks. Top each cookie with 1/4 teaspoon melted chocolate. Store in the refrigerator. Yield: 9-1/2 dozen.
Low Fat Strawberry Trifle
INGREDIENTS:
* 1 (5 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
* 3 cups cold milk
* 1 (9 inch) angel food cake, cut in cubes
* 4 bananas, sliced
* 1 (16 ounce) package frozen strawberries, thawed
* 1 (12 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
DIRECTIONS:
1. Prepare pudding with milk according to package directions. In a trifle bowl or other glass serving dish, layer half the cake pieces, half the pudding, half the bananas, half the strawberries and half the whipped topping. Repeat layers. Cover and chill in refrigerator 4 hours before serving. Only 135 calories per serving. Trifle should serve about 15-18.

Very good and extremely easy to make. Everyone was surprised that there was no flour in the recipe. Great for Christmas Cookie exchange or a high school French Club dinner.
