Need Motivation? Enter a competition

A good way to keep your motivation high is to enter some sort of competition as a goal to train for. I often sign up for a local 5K when I need a little something extra to aim for. Joining a competitive sports team like a rugby or soccer club is also a great way to establish a specific training goal which provides the motivation for exercise. One of my clients joined a local ultimate frisbee team. It is something she had never done before and it helped her lose 10 pounds that season. Check your local newspaper or community newsletter or your favorite charities web site. There are often fitness-focused events to sign up for year-round.
