National Dance Day – Dance for fun and Fitness

Did you know that National Dance Day is July 31? Started by the So You Think You Can Dance producer and Dizzy Feet Foundation founder, Nigel Lythgoe. The premise is to promote dance as a way to be fit and healthy. There is even a dance you can learn put together by choreographers Napolian and Tabitha (aka Nappy Tabs), also from So You Think You Can Dance fame.

Giving up on my perfectionist tendencies, I decided to not only learn the dance, but even video my performance and put it on You Tube. Who knows, maybe they will show a clip on the show next week. I can always dream, right?

Anyway, I decided to tell you all about it because it was what such a great workout just learning and practicing the dance. The experience helped to remind me how much fun dance is as well as what a great option for fitness. So, get up and dance everyone. Your body and spirit will thank you for it.

Here is my attempt. Stop by YouTube and give it a thumbs up. Who knows, maybe they will show a clip on the show this week. Enjoy!

    BUST A MOVE! That was excellent!
    I’ve been taking pole dancing classes for this month in order to celebrate the national dance day on the 31st, and I’m having an absolute blast. Arm, shoulders and core strength is so important for it! I’ve also been writing my progress with pole dancing on my website.

    I’m totally going to dance it out on the 31st, maybe I can get a camera too!

    Dancing is great to burn off calories while making it fun, sometimes almost forgetting that it is a workout. I used to be a dancer(jazz, burlesque) before I became a Personal trainer, those two goes hand in hand. ♥ dancing.

    Thanks for stopping by Zandra. I am totally adding more dancing into my fitness routines from now on. Just got Hip Hop Hustle from Chalene Johnson too. Can’t wait to try it out.
