Make it HARD!

19 January 2009 2 Comments

What should be hard, you may ask? Your exercise! You should be sweating and breathing hard each time you workout (unless you are doing yoga or stretching.) Try to make each workout nearly as hard as your first. When your workouts are getting too easy, you need to take it to the next level. This is what helps motivate your body to change and increases your metabolism. This will also push you over a plateau.

I am finding that my most recent workouts are getting a bit too easy. On the one hand, I give myself a pat on the back for the improvement, but I also know that I need to increase my intensity this week. Keep this is mind when your workout feels difficult, that is a good thing!
Now, I certainly don’t mean to over do it. You need to listen to your body. Do not push through pain. Working out should be uncomfortable, but not seriously painful in any way. Always check with your doctor if you have concerns about trying something new or experience unusual pain.
