Have you Tried Bootcamp?

27 January 2010 3 Comments

camp2I tried a local boot camp class today. My kids were asking, “what the heck is that?” I think they envisioned me going to a special camp where I can get boots. Tee hee! Seriously though, it was nice to step away from my DVD player for a day and get out in the world. I always love learning new moves that I can try at home too.

This particular class is at a local martial arts studio, so what made it a bit different is that we took class in bare feet on a heavily matted floor. It felt really nice to have all that spring and cushion under each step. Since I was new to class, and have been off the workout wagon for a week (had food poisoning last weekend), I decided to go for the intermediate level workout.

I am proud to report that I did quite well. The class was about 1/3 running drills, 1/3 weights and 1/3 abs/pushups. There are a variety of different approaches for Boot Camp. Many our outdoors in the nicer weather, but this indoor variety in bare feet was quite nice. Find a class near you and give it a try. Report back here.

I absolutely LOVE Bootcam classes! The fit coach is right – this si a fantastic (and fun) workout. I also find it easy to follow – not like some kickboxing and step aerobics classes I’ve tried.
