Guest Post: Jillian Michaels is a Liar!

7 June 2010 7 Comments

I just love this post from SkinnySushi. She has a great attitude about taking on the challenge of a Jillian Michaels workout. Stop by her blog and say hello too.

I’ve figured it out. She doesn’t actually want any of us to get thinner or healthier. She wants to thin the herd, kill off the weaklings, and find the hardcore fitness maniacs to join her super army of well toned perfect people.

Well guess what, Jillian? I am so on to you, and I am totally going to stick with this program, become amazingly buff, and be the leader of your crazy fit people army. So there!

Can you promise me something though? Can you promise I won’t get that scary lower torso definition that you have? The thing that makes it look like you have man hips? Thanks.

I did No More Trouble Zones yesterday (I’ll be doing Shred again today) and I thought I was going to DIE. It’s forty minutes and I have never, ever sweat so much in my life. It was really hard, and my right bicep is super tight for whatever reason. There were also a couple of things I had to modify… most were modifications that she provided, but I am (as yet) totally incapable of doing side planks, so I did oblique crunches instead during that part.

Hopefully it’s close enough. The workout was extremely challenging, but I felt SO proud of myself once I was done. I know Jillian annoys a lot of people, but I actually find her DVDs pretty good. Nothing too cheesy, encouragement without weirdly upbeat fake friendliness, and a lot of inspiring prompts to think about why you’re bothering to do all this in the first place. So thanks, JM. I’m totally going to rule your fit people army.

LOL! Funny. I’ve never seen her workout videos. By the sound of it, they are intense.

Lol man hips. I don’t get what’s so unwanted of that to most women? I don’t mind it all. But then again, I’m kind of built like that, I figure mine will look like that the less body-fat I have. I’m not a super curvaceous woman, I’m kinda used to being called a boy- it’s happened my whole life.

I personal, cannot stand Jillian Micheals. So I was totally hoping for some snarky post with a title like that, Jenn! lol

most people can’t stand Jillian because she tells it like it is. i always found it funny that Jillian says/does the same things as Bob on the Biggest Loser, yet he’s adored, and she’s hated. i think it mostly stems from ppls insecurities in seeing powerful successful women. i’ve seen her fat teenager pics, and bless her for turning herself around at such a young age.

i love her brutal honesty, and i agree with the workouts. she’s just to the point, not over bubbley with a permagrin on her face. just good, solid workouts.

I am confused about you post. You call her a liar and then claim her DVD is really good and you plan on continuing? Liar seems like a really strong word for your argument. In addition, you claim she only wants fit people but then say she offered modifications- modifications that you used. As a trainer, I know that if I don’t set the bar high, my clients will have nothing to strive for.

I think you are wrong. She does want people to get thinner and get healthier.

Just stopped by from SITS to say hi; hope you will find time to do the same.

Well, it is a guest post, but I sort of get where she is coming from. Thanks for your feedback. – Jenn
